Online Music Classes in Sight Singing and Piano Skills – Spring 2021

The Zona Studio is proud to announce two new ONLINE MUSIC CLASSES to beef up your musicianship skills in 2021! Music Fundamentals and Sight Singing is a new online music theory course that will strengthen your music reading skills and give you strategies to sight sing with speed and accuracy. Piano Skills for Singers is an online piano class that will cover the basic skills needed to read a lead sheet, play basic chords and scales, and create simple accompaniments so you can accompany yourself or others.

Online Music Classes - Musica Fundamentals/Sight Singing

8 Thursdays, 7:00-8:30 EST

March 4 – April 29 (no class April 1st)

Do you want to beef up your musicianship skills? Do you sing in a choir and want to be able to sight read your part? Do you want to be able to learn songs on your own without a guide track?

Then this is the course for you! In this 8-week class, we will cover:

Rhythm basics (note values, time signatures, etc.)
Counting in simple and compound time signatures
Reading notes in both the treble and bass clefs
Key signatures
Major and minor keys
Solfeggio with moveable DO
Strategies for quick and effective sight singing
and more!

All Classes will be given on Zoom. A welcome link will be sent before the first class, once payment is made.

Online Music Classes - Piano Skills for Singers

8 Saturdays, 11:00-1:00 EST

May 1 – June 26 (no class May 29th)

Are you a singer who wants to be able to learn and play your songs on the piano? Are you a voice teacher who would like to accompany your students? Do you want to impress your friends and family at at holiday gatherings?

Then this is the course for you! In this 8-week class, we will cover:

Scales in Major and minor keys
The structure of triads and seventh chords
Chord progressions and voicings
The importance of fingerings
Accompanying vocalises
Reading a lead sheet and creating simple accompaniments
Simplifying complex accompaniments
and more!

All Classes will be given on Zoom. A welcome link will be sent before the first class, once payment is made.

Prerequisites/Requirements: You must be familiar with reading notes in at least one clef and you must have a piano or keyboard.
