My Teaching Philosophy
I believe that every student of music has the ability to succeed—whether that means personal fulfillment, professional achievement, or both. As a teacher, it’s my job to set high expectations—often higher than my students believe they can reach. Whether or not they meet that expectation exactly isn’t the point. It’s the journey toward that goal that reveals their voice, their artistry, and ultimately, themselves.
My role is to provide all the tools, knowledge, and guidance I can. But the ultimate job of a teacher is to take students to the point where they no longer need us—because they’ve grown into confident, self-sufficient artists.
Singing is deeply personal work. It requires vulnerability, courage, and introspection. Once the foundational technique is in place, the real magic happens: students must look within to express their truth through music. That’s why I create a safe, supportive, and enthusiastic space for exploration, discovery, and growth. When students tap into that authentic expression, they don’t just become better singers—they become true artists.
