I have taught piano lessons both in the private studio and at the collegiate level with every level of student – from beginner to most advanced. The private lesson allows for the most personalized experience which allows you to reach your goals at your own pace.

Piano Lessons for Every Goal

Whether you want to learn how to play piano for fun or you want to study at a more advanced level, private piano lessons are the best way to achieve your playing and music-making goals.

For the beginning student, I like to start with a piano method, like the Faber Piano Adventures, because a method offers the most comprehensive approach marrying technique with theory with musicality. For the more advanced student, I will introduce stand-alone repertoire in a variety of styles from classical to Broadway to jazz. But it is also important to me that the student play what THEY want to play that serves their goals. So we will work together to make the learning process helpful and fun.

But our lessons together are just part of the process. The real learning happens in the week between the lessons. It is then that you must practice every day! Like playing any other musical instrument or singing, much of the technique requires coordination and reading music is like reading another language. Those skills are only strengthened in consistent practice. So make sure you commit to working on your piano every day so that coordination and musical language becomes part of your muscle memory!

Where do the lessons take place?

While I usually do a majority of my teaching at my home in Yonkers or in Manhattan, due to Covid-19, all my lessons for the foreseeable future are ONLINE. Please check out the ONLINE TECHNOLOGY page for information on the technology you will need to make online lessons ideal.

Makeup lessons/Cancellation Policy

Should you need to cancel a lesson for any reason, I need 24 hours notice. You can text me (914-523-2718) or email me. If I don’t get the proper notice, no matter what the reason for the cancellation, no makeup lesson will be offered and there are no refunds. If I do get the proper notice, we will schedule a makeup lesson at our mutual convenience. I do not follow the school calendar so if school is out of session, don’t assume that you won’t have a lesson that day. If you need to reschedule for a school holiday, let me know 24 hours in advance. Regardless of how many cancellations with the proper notice, only TWO makeups will be given per semester.
